Are the manual workarounds and the bottlenecks known and written down?

3 · Exception readiness

Is it written down what happens when the information the AI needs is missing?

When the AI is unsure, does a named person take over, and is it known how they find out?

Is there a written list of what the AI must never handle?

4 · System architecture

Does your CRM or practice system have an API or an export the AI could use?

Is it defined who may see what (identity and access), so the AI can inherit it?

Is the data the AI would read current, clean, and owned by someone?

5 · Accountability

Is one person named as the owner of the system?

Is it agreed who approves changes to it and who can shut it down?

Is a weekly failure review on a calendar?

6 · Measurement

Is there a baseline of today's cycle time, cost, or error rate for this workflow?

Are both the AI metric and the business metric it must move named?

Will adoption be tracked (who uses it, how often)?

What does the AI Implementation Readiness Assessment measure?

Whether your organization can take one AI initiative from a prototype to a production system safely. Eighteen questions across six dimensions: is the business value written as a number with an owner; does anyone know how the work actually happens; is it written down what happens when the AI meets an exception; can the AI reach your systems and data; is one person accountable; can you prove a business metric moved. Each dimension scores 0 to 5, the total is out of 30, and the result is a maturity stage plus a one-page profile.

How is it different from the AI Executive Readiness Assessment?

The Executive Readiness Assessment scores the firm's overall AI posture: strategy, governance, security, operations, visibility, growth. This one scores one initiative you name at the start, and it asks the questions a production deployment would fail on. Take the executive one to know where the firm stands; take this one before you build anything.

What are the five stages?

Exploration (0 to 10): opportunities exist, the foundations for implementing one are weak. Experimentation (11 to 17): AI is being tried; the workflow and the accountability are not yet mature. Implementation ready (18 to 23): enough foundation for one controlled production initiative. Production capable (24 to 27): the infrastructure and operating discipline for broader deployment. AI operating environment (28 to 30): AI can become a repeatable organizational capability. They describe maturity; none of them is a grade.

What is the primary constraint?

Your lowest-scoring dimension, and the first thing to fix. A low Measurement score means take a baseline before anything ships. A low Workflow Reality score means observe the real workflow at the desk before designing around the SOP. A low Exception Readiness score means write down what the AI handles, asks, escalates and refuses before it meets its first exception in production.
